GMAL Exhibition (Thailand) Co., Ltd. CEO, Mr. Monoo Leewaphanit, as the organizer of ‘DronTech Asia 2024’, stated that drones currently play roles in various industries, reducing human labor and creating commercial benefits. Drones are employed to enhance convenience across multiple dimensions, such as inspecting warehouse goods, agricultural work like watering and fertilizing, entertainment creation, photography, and videography, among others. The company recognizes the drone industry’s significant expansion and growth potential, aspiring to contribute to its advancement and support.

Therefore, GMAL Exhibition, acting as a private platform facilitating collaboration and a sector promoting the industry, is preparing to host ‘DronTech Asia 2024’, Thailand’s first international exhibition and conference related to drones and technology. The event is supported by the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT), the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), the Defense Technology Institute (DTI), the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), the Thai Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Association, and several other government agencies.

‘DronTech Asia 2024’ will serve as a platform highlighting the potential and leadership of the rapidly growing drone industry in Southeast Asia. It will provide opportunities for both Thai and international drone and technology manufacturers to directly engage with drone technology users, fostering cooperation and further industry development.

Mr. Prisan Rakwatin, Deputy Director-General of the Digital Application Promotion Group at DEPA, mentioned that initiatives to promote drone technology and industry for economic growth include the “1 District 1 Digital” project (Drone Heart Community). This project aims to develop knowledge, understanding, and skills related to drone application and maintenance for agriculture in communities and nationwide. It also promotes transforming traditional businesses into drone service, spraying, and distribution centers for agricultural purposes. Within a year of the project’s implementation, it is expected to establish 50 service centers across the country, drive the adoption of drones in 500 communities, and generate an economic value of no less than 350 million baht. This aligns with the key objective of enhancing digital capabilities to create competitive advantages under the Digital Economy and Society Development Plan.

Mr. Chartchai Puntarawongkul, Manager of the Unmanned Aircraft Standards Division at CAAT, discussed urgent regulatory approaches for future drone usage, including certifications for various types of drone flights such as Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS), medium-sized drones, aircraft registration, certification of various drone pilot training centers, and issuance of pilot licenses for each category (basic and advanced).

‘DronTech Asia 2024’ is an exhibition showcasing drones and technologies demonstrating their applications in various sectors like agriculture, energy, construction, fuel and gas, and security industries. It will also feature academic seminars on drones, technology presentations from different agencies, technology competitions, product demonstrations by exhibitors including drone and technology manufacturers, software and hardware developers, importers, distributors, anti-drone technology developers, unmanned traffic management experts, and industry drone users. Visitors will include drone enthusiasts, industry experts from agriculture, construction, energy, public safety, media and entertainment, investors, venture capitalists, researchers, and academicians.

‘DronTech Asia 2024’, Thailand’s leading exhibition and seminar event focusing on drones and technology, will take place from November 25-27, 2567 (2024), between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, at Hall 12, Impact Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani.
